ORU-BOAS is an EC Horizon collaborative study focused on developing a concept for assembling, repairing, and upgrading in-orbit space infrastructures. As part of a 6-company European consortium, ISISPACE contributes by developing a new EPS system and a tracked solar array module, supporting Europe’s capability for autonomous robotic space missions at TRL5/6.

The (Orbital Replacement Unit – Based on Building Blocks for Advanced Assembly of Space Systems) ORU-BOAS project aims to develop a concept that will allow assembly, repair, or upload of space infrastructures directly in-orbit. This EU-funded collaborative project comes under the EC Horizon program. The study targets developing a modular system at TRL5/6, enhancing Europe’s autonomous robotic space mission capabilities.
The project consortium is composed of six European Union countries, which includes ISISPACE Group (Netherlands), SENER Aeroespacial SA (from Spain); Thales Alenia Italia (Italy); Thales Alenia France (from France); EASN TIS (Belgium); DLR (German Aerospace Center, from Germany). ISISPACE, representing the Netherlands, contributes by designing a new Electrical Power System (EPS) and a tracked solar array module.
